Danika is a little mother hen, she really looks out for her younger siblings.

Mr. Peyton... not sure what to say other than he is just a little ham.

Little Miss Journi is a little spit fire and had us all on our toes.

 Than the cutest little twins, Zander and Kilee, but I like to call them Phil and Lil.

 

 

They sure do have their hands full but are doing an amazing job with their crew. Thank you so much for allowing me to photograph your beautiful family!

{Driving Lessons}

Jewels was super stoked about getting to mow the lawn today! (little does she know it is her new chore, hehehe ;) Hubby and I think the lawn mower is a great place to start with driving lessons here on the homestead. The ladies have been riding with us and steering for a while now.

We figured it was about time to let Jewels take full control and she did GREAT!!

 

This one was a little upset that she is not old enough to drive by herself...

Sometimes life has its disappointments.

{Laundry Soap}

I had been wanting to make laundry soap for a while now and just hadn't gotten around to making it. After chatting with my sister and hearing how well she liked her soap I figured I would give it a try. After looking around I came across a recipe that sounded easy enough....

 

1box super washing soda ($3.88)

1box Borax ($3.97)

1box (4lbs) baking soda ($2.04)

3bars Fels-Naptha finely graded ($2.91)

1.3 lbs Oxy-Clean ($1.78)

Purex crystals (28oz) - optional ($4.76)
 

I had the Oxy-Clean and baking soda on hand that I had purchased at Sam's Club. Buying it in bulk helped out on the price a bit. Everything else I had to purchase. I do not use the Purex crystals in my mix but do sprinkle a bit in each load (I love this stuff!)

I have been using this soap for a few months now and love it!

We grated our Fels-Naptha bars with a cheese grater but have read some people use a food processor. It's fairly easy to make, just grade your soap and mix all the ingredients together. We have found it easier to put all the ingredients in a large garbage bag and mix it that way and then put it in your container of choice.

 

Total: $14.58 w/out Purex for roughly 300 loads

& the Best Part you only need to use 2 tablespoons per load!!

{Easter Sunday}

After enjoying a beautiful service at church, the ladies enjoyed an afternoon scavenger hunt! My husband is wonderful at rhymes and puts together a hunt for them every year. A little cheesy we know but so worth the excitement!

 

 

 

To start out this game for Brat 1 and Brat 2,

you will need to get on your shoes!

 

Roses are red, violets are blue,

Down by the creek, you will need to go to.

 

 

Look for the tree, where later apples will be.

 

 

Over by the coop,

Next to the stoop,

Best beware,

of the chicken poop!

 

 

Think the last one was funny,

Look where there were baby bunnies.

 

 

If you were good,

There should be another clue,

Where the tree once stood.

 

Down by the creek,

Beside a big stick,

You will go,

Where grasses grow...

 

Another one can be found,

Where they get real loud,

When you come around!

 

Head out the gate, it's getting late

Up in a tree, the last one will be....

 

Inside this egg you won't find any gift,

The one you will get simply won't fit!

{Spring has Sprung}

The ladies and I found a nest of these little cuties :) We are so ready for spring and all that it brings with it.

{Fun with Fondant}

The ladies and I decided to try our hand at baking a beautiful cake (we used the store bought mix). We really wanted to make something fun and colorful. I have been wanting to try out fondant for a while now, and decided we would try out this marshmallow fondant recipe I found.

16 ounces of marshmallows

4 tablespoons Water

2 pounds Powdered Sugar

Gel Food Coloring

Put Marshmallows and water in a microwave safe bowl, Microwave for about 2 mins, stirring every 30 seconds or so. When your marshmallow mix is no longer lumpy, mix in 3/4 of the powdered sugar, mixing, mixing, folding, mixing, until workable, then knead on a greased surface, adding sugar as needed until the texture is smooth and no longer sticky. Cover in plastic wrap and let cool for at least an hour. We kneaded in the food coloring after it cooled in small portions because we wanted multiple colors, but if you are wanting just one color add the the food coloring after you melt the marshmallows and before you add the sugar.

*we put vegetable oil on our hands to prevent it from sticking to us.

We sure had a ton of fun with the fondant but I don't think I will be going professional anytime soon. The Ladies and I think it turned out Great for a Baby Shower!
